Coronavirus update: Trisha thanks fans for love and prayers as she tests negative

The actress said she had never been happier to read the word 'negative' on a report.

Actress Trisha took to Twitter today to announce that she had tested negative for COVID-19 and thanked fans for their prayers and love, adding that she had never felt happier to read the word 'negative' on a report..

On 7 January, Trisha took to Twitter to share a statement in which she wrote: “Despite taking all the precautions and safety measures, I tested positive just a little before the New Year. You name the symptoms, I had it.”

She added that it was one of her most harrowing weeks: “I’m recovering and feel better today thanks to my vaccinations. I request everyone to do the same and mask up. Hoping to clear my tests and fly back home soon. My heartfelt thanks to the best family and friends I have and for all the prayers.”

Trisha recently completed 19 years in cinema. She made her acting debut opposite Suriya in the Tamil romantic drama Mounam Pesiyathe (2002). She has worked in over 50 films in all the four primary Southern languages and in a couple of Hindi projects as well.

On the career front, Trisha last year starred in Gautham Menon’s short film Karthik Dial Seytha Yenn, a reboot of their popular Tamil film Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa (2010).

In 2020, Trisha was all set to make a comeback to Telugu industry after a long hiatus with Chiranjeevi’s Acharya. She was signed on as the leading lady. However, in March 2020, she opted out of the project citing creative differences. 

It has been five years since Trisha worked in a Telugu film. Her last Telugu outing was the horror thriller Nayagi (2016).

Trisha is also awaiting the release of the Tamil thriller Raangi, which is said to be gearing up for a direct-to-OTT release. However, the makers are yet to make an official announcement on this.

Trisha is also awaiting the release of Mani Ratnam’s magnum opus, Ponniyin Selvan: Part I (2022).
