Generally, films are released theatrically and eventually make their way to digital platforms. But the makers of Well Done Baby (2021), starring Amruta Khanvilkar and Pushkar Jog, have opted to do the reverse. Nine months after it was premiered on Amazon Prime Video, the romantic comedy will have its theatrical release on 14 January.
Directed by Priyanka Tanwar, the film had its OTT premiere on 9 April 2021. The makers' decision is perplexing, considering that the film is still available on the platform. Also, it received lukewarm response from critics and audiences.
Well Done Baby review: Dull film about parents-to-be on the brink of divorce
Well Done Baby revolves around married couple Aditya (Jog) and Meera (Khanvilkar) who appear to be living it up in London. However, in reality, their marriage is in a shambles and they are on the brink of divorce. Just when the couple is about to part ways, Meera discovers she is pregnant. They then learn to overcome their differences.
It will be interesting to see the audience's response to this experiment, as two other Marathi films are scheduled to be released this Friday: Mahesh Manjrekar's gritty crime thriller Nay Varanbhaat Loncha Kon Nay Koncha and the Spruha Joshi-, Siddharth Chandekar-starrer Coffee.
