Veteran singer and Dadasaheb Phalke Award honoree Lata Mangeshkar has tested positive for COVID-19 and has been admitted to the ICU of Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital as a precaution.

The singer’s niece Rachna Shah told the news agency Asian News International that the veteran singer was experiencing mild symptoms.

Shah added, “She is doing fine and has been kept in the ICU only for precautionary reasons considering her age. Please respect our privacy and keep Didi in your prayers."

When contacted by Cinestaan.com, the singer’s publicist confirmed that Mangeshkar was experiencing mild COVID-19 symptoms and was under observation as a precautionary measure.

Mangeshkar, who turned 92 last September, had a health scare in late 2019 when she was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital for nearly a month after being diagnosed with pneumonia.
