Nay Varanbhaat Loncha Kon Nay Koncha trailer: Mahesh Manjrekar film pushes boundaries in terms of sex and gore

The film is the story of two teenagers who go on to become hardcore criminals.

Mahesh Manjrekar’s Nay Varanbhaat Loncha Kon Nay Koncha appears to take place in the same universe as one of his earlier films, Lalbaug Parel (2010), which was released in Hindi as City of Gold (2010). Like the older movie, this one is also concerned with the struggles of mill workers in Mumbai [then Bombay].

But the trailer of Nay Varanbhaat Loncha Kon Nay Koncha makes it clear that the film is more extreme than the 2010 movie. In fact, it wouldn’t be a stretch to say that this could probably be the most extreme mainstream Marathi movie to ever be released in theatres.

The film has a large adult cast, but the story largely revolves around two impoverished teenagers, played by Prem Dharmadhikari and Varad Nagwekar. The two enter the path of crime at an early age. Driven by self-interest, they become so cold-blooded that they fail to realize the seriousness of their crimes.

The very first scene in the trailer makes it clear what to expect. The youths are seen washing their hands from a puddle of water in a home after slaughtering the owners. The trailer ends with a scene that transpires before the murders where one of them slashes the genitals of the man.

In another scene, Dharmadhikari's character is seen making a move on his own aunt.

It is daring of the makers to attempt to release such a film in theatres. However, its edgy content doesn’t appear as natural as the kind we have seen in recent years in various web-series.

Dharmadhikari and Nagwekar’s performances disturb you, which means that they have slipped into the skins of their respective characters effortlessly. The adult cast includes Chhaya Kadam, Shashank Shende, Kashmera Shah, Umesh Jagtap and Ganesh Yadav.

Produced by NH Studioz, Nay Varanbhaat Loncha Kon Nay Koncha will be released in theatres on 14 January.
