Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff will carry on the legacy of Amitabh Bachchan and Govinda with an action-oriented take on the 1998 comedy Bade Miyan Chote Miyan. The reboot, which has the same name, will be directed by Ali Abbas Zafar and is scheduled to be released on Christmas 2023.
The makers on Tuesday shared a teaser, showcasing the stunt capabilities of the lead actors. The clip begins with the sight of a squad of commandos entering a narrow passageway, only to be beaten up by a machine gun-toting Tiger Shroff. Suddenly, Akshay Kumar enters with the artillery.

Producer Vashu Bhagnani stated, "It’s a film very close to my heart as it brought together two legends Amitji [Amitabh Bachchan] and Govinda, and was directed by my favourite, Davidji [Dhawan]. It is heartening to see my Chote Miyan, Jackky recreate that magic along with Ali Abbas Zafar who has a brilliant vision for the film. I am so humbled to have Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff be our Bade Miyan and Chote Miyan for a new generation of audiences in 2023.”
The film will mark the first collaboration between Akshay and Tiger. The 1998 film, produced by Vashu Bhagnani, featured Amitabh and Govinda in a double role as cops and robbers whose mistaken identity leads to hilarious situations. While the original film was built around comedy' the new one is marked as an 'action entertainer'.
The film marks Ali Abbas Zafar's foray into production via AAZ Films. In addition to Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, the filmmaker is also working on a crime caper, based on the French noir, Nuit Blanche, with Shahid Kapoor in the lead.
