First single from Beast, 'Arabic Kuthu', to be released on 14 February

The first single from Vijay’s upcoming Tamil film Beast (2022) will be released on 14 February.

The promo video for the song, which is titled 'Arabic Kuthu', featuring Sivakarthikeyan, director Nelson and composer Anirudh Ravichander, was released by the makers of Beast, Sun Pictures, yesterday and has since gone viral, garnering over seven million views on YouTube.

The promo video features Anirudh and Nelson discussing the first song of the album. When Anirudh asks about what kind of song Nelson wants, the latter replies a ‘kuthu’ number for Vijay’s fans.

Anirudh suggests doing an Arabic number and asks the filmmaker to get a lyricist who can write in the language. He then brings Sivakarthikeyan to write the song and hilarity ensues.

It’s worth mentioning that Nelson and Sivakarthikeyan worked together on the recent Tamil black comedy Doctor (2021), which grossed over Rs100 crore at the box office. 

Beast marks the maiden collaboration between Vijay and Nelson, who rose to fame with his Tamil crime comedy Kolamaavu Kokila (2018), which starred Nayanthara as a middle-class working woman forced to peddle drugs.

Pooja Hegde shares screen space with Vijay for the first time in Beast, which is expected to hit screens worldwide on 14 April 2022.

Vijay was last seen on screen in Tamil action-drama Master (2021), in which he played a college professor with drinking problems. The film, which grossed over Rs200 crore at the box office, saw him join hands with filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj for the first time.
