The trailer of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Gangubai Kathiawadi, which stars Alia Bhatt, became a point of discussion as soon as it was released last week.

The period piece also features Marathi actress Chhaya Kadam.

Speaking about the project, Kadam told Cinestaan.com, “Before doing the film, I had only heard about Sanjay Leela Bhansali and his larger-than-life movies in terms of sets and costumes. His visuals are like a colourful picture. Finally, you get to do a film with him. I am too excited for it.” She was speaking at an interaction for her upcoming Marathi movie Soyrik.

Sharing her experience working with Bhansali, she said, “I got to learn a lot from him. He thinks about his work 24x7. He just doesn’t get tired.”

Gangubai Kathiawadi will be released on 25 February.

Kadam also has another big film in the pipeline, Nagraj Manjule’s Jhund. She has already worked in two of the filmmaker's celebrated projects, Fandry (2014) and Sairat (2016)

“It is always enjoyable working with him,” she said. “As a director, he is great. But more than that, he is a close friend. I love how he brings something new for me in each of his films. And there is Amitabhji in the movie and it’s Nagraj’s first Hindi movie.”

Jhund went through its share of ups and downs, with the pandemic only making things worse. “In between, it was getting postponed. It makes you tense because as an artiste, you have worked hard. But then suddenly it was announced that it will be released on 4 March. So I am now very excited about the movie,” Kadam said.
