A heartbroken film industry began to pay its tributes and mourn the passing of veteran singer Lata Mangeshkar, who died this morning in Mumbai of COVID-19 complications. The 92-year-old had been undergoing treatment at Breach Candy hospital since 11 January.

Amitabh Bachchan wrote on his blog, “She has left us... the voice of a million centuries has left us... her voice resounds now in the heavens!” The veteran actor made his way to the singer’s long-time residence Prabhu Kunj in South Mumbai to pay his respects to Mangeshkar and condole with the family.

Actress Shraddha Kapoor, actor Anupam Kher, filmmakers Ashutosh Gowariker and Sanjay Leela Bhansali, and lyricist-poet Javed Akhtar also went to her residence to pay their last respects.
Others from the industry, from veteran actor Dharmendra to Akshay Kumar, paid tribute to the legendary singer online.
