Adivi Sesh's long-delayed and much-anticipated film Major (2022) will finally be released in cinemas worldwide on 27 May.
The film was previously scheduled to be released on 11 February, but the makers delayed it when several studios pulled back their films last month due to the third wave of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The actor announced the new release date with a poster on social media today. The new poster features the Taj Mahal Hotel which is barely visible behind all the smoke.
The film, directed by Sashi Kiran Tikka, sees Adivi Sesh play the role of the late NSG commando, Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan, who died fighting the terrorists who attacked Mumbai on 26 November 2008.
The film, which also stars Saiee Manjrekar, Sobhita Dhulipala, Prakash Raj, Revathi and Murli Sharma, was originally scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on 2 July 2021. But the second wave of the pandemic, which ravaged several states in India, led to its release being postponed to 11 February 2022.
Co-produced by Sony Pictures Films India, GMB Entertainment and A+S Movies, the film has been shot simultaneously in Telugu and Hindi. It will also be released in a Malayalam dubbed version. Major Sandeep hailed from Kerala.
