After unveiling Alia Bhatt as the titular character, the makers of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Gangubai Kathiawadi (2022) have revealed the look of Ajay Devgn’s character ahead of the film's trailer launch, which will take place tomorrow.
Sporing a blazer and sunglasses, the actor is reportedly playing a gangster based on the infamous Karim Lala, one of three rulers of the Mumbai underworld from the 1960s to the 1980s, in the upcoming Alia Bhatt-starrer. The part is said to be a special cameo.

The actor began shooting for the film year ago, reuniting with his Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam (1999) director after more than 20 years.
Incidentally, Bhatt and Devgn also have key roles in SS Rajamouli’s RRR (2022) which is being released on 25 March. Both films have seen several delays in filming and setbacks in their release schedules due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Bhatt plays a brothel madam named Gangubai; the story has been adapted from a chapter on Gangubai Kathewali from the book Mafia Queens of Mumbai by journalists S Hussain Zaidi and Jane Borges.
Gangubai Kathiawadi, co-produced by Bhansali Productions and Jayantilal Gada’s Pen Studios, is due to be released on 25 March. It will have its world premiere at the 72nd Berlin International Film Festival which begins on 10 February.
