Actress Sudipta Chakraborty and Eeb Allay Ooo! (2020) actor Shardul Bharadwaj will be seen together in Suman Ghosh’s upcoming Hindi film Birju.
The project was selected for the Busan International Film Festival's Asian Project Market in 2019.
Though the director did not reveal much about Birju, he confirmed that the film is a social drama. “The story is based in Kolkata and is primarily about a couple. The project was selected three years ago but I could not start working on the film because of my engagement in other films,” he said.
Birju marks Chakraborty’s fourth collaboration with Ghosh after the feature films Nobel Chor (2012), Basu Paribaar (2019) and the short Searching for Happiness... (2021).
Speaking to Anandabazar Patrika, a Bengali daily, about the film, the actress said, “I loved the story. The film has an incredible cast and crew and hence, I am quite excited to be part of it.”
Birju will go on the floors on 20 February.
