The Zee5 mystery thriller web-series Mithya (2022) shows a psychological battle between teacher and student, played, respectively, by Huma Qureshi and Avantika Dassani. The series, helmed by Rohan Sippy, is the official adaption of the British television series Cheat (2019).

Speaking of the viewer response to the show and her character, Qureshi said, “The response to Mithya and to my character of Juhi Adhikari has been overwhelming. I had a feeling when we started working on this project that we were on to something big, but the love and the response has me smiling and feeling immense gratitude.

"Juhi Adhikari will stay with me forever and I hope for people who have watched the series, the character stays with them too, as she isn’t someone you can easily dismiss or forget. Mithya was a gratifying experience, and I am thankful to the fans for their love and support."

Mithya marked yesteryear star Bhagyashree's daughter Avantika Dassani's acting debut. Speaking of the audience response to her character, the young actress said, “It has been a week since I handed over Rhea Rajguru to the viewers and what a week it has been! I have been overwhelmed by the welcoming response and touched by the love pouring in."

Dassani said she was aware it was a risky choice to make her debut as an actress with such a challenging role, "but it has paid off in ways I couldn’t imagine. I’m incredibly grateful and excited and hope that more people watch our show, Mithya.”

Director Sippy was also happy with the response the show has been getting from viewers. "It was a labour of hard work, passion and teamwork and I am glad viewers have loved and accepted our show wholeheartedly," he said. "It’s only been a week since launch, and I hope more people discover and celebrate Mithya across the 190+ countries that Zee5 is available in — that’s the power of an OTT platform. It is not bound by time and country.”

Mithya was premiered on Zee5 on 18 February.
