The looks of Riddhi Sen and Ushasi Ray's characters from the upcoming Hoichoi series Sundarbaner Vidyasagar was unveiled online recently.
Directed by Korok Murmu, the show has been written by Arkdadeep Nath.
According to a report in The Telegraph, an English newspaper, the series revolves around a teenage boy, who ends up in a realm populated by widows in the Sunderbans, a mangrove area in the delta formed by the confluence of the Ganges, Brahmaputra and Meghna in the Bay of Bengal.
Sen plays Kinkar, the teenager, who is under a lot of pressure as he is considered by the family to be the next Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar, a renowned19th century Bengali educator and social reformer. However, as he fails to impress them with his academic results, he seeks the help of his tutor-turned-confidant Bhuban Da and becomes a part of a government undertaking.
“I am immensely excited as the first look of our series Sundarbaner Vidyasagar drops,” said the National award-winning actor.
“I am both thrilled and delighted to see how the audience reacts to the revelations of the first appearances of the series."
Ray will be seen as Parboti, a widow from the Kumirkhali village. “This is a very special character that I am playing. This is the first time I will be seen in a look that is so strikingly impactful. I would like to thank Hoichoi and Korok Murmu for giving me a role that will remain close to my heart and that is so powerful,” the actress said.
