Mammootty's highly anticipated gangster drama Bheeshma Parvam seems more like a stylized, action-heavy version of The Godfather (1972). The veteran plays an ageing don, Michael, whose family members are also an active part of his criminal world.
The 1.54-minute trailer hints at an intense, stylish action drama without giving away many plot details. Michael apparently has to revisit his violent past to protect his family.
Soubin Shahir, who has been mostly part of feel-good movies, plays a cold-blooded killer here. We also see him perform some action in this short clip. Shine Tom Chacko's is another fascinating character. His stylish avatar and the 1980s fashion stand out.
But without a doubt, the biggest highlight of the trailer is Mammootty. His baritone voice, rugged look and long hair ooze swag. From the trailer, it looks like Bheeshma Parvam will be a complete treat for audiences who love the veteran as both an actor and a star.
The film is director Amal Neerad's second feature with Mammootty after Big B (2007), which has achieved cult status over the years.
Bheeshma Parvam is scheduled to be released in theatres on 3 March. The film is being distributed in the northern territories by UFO Moviez.
