'MaarKhaaegaa', Akshay Kumar's introductory song in Farhad Samji's upcoming action-comedy Bachchhan Paandey, is direct and carries the same weight as the titular gangster.

Vikram Montrose's percussion-heavy composition features vocals by the composer and Farhad Bhiwandiwala. The underlying rhythm is punctuated by body slams executed by Kumar's thug.

The hook is hyped with a choreographed move. The visual similarity to the Pushpa: The Rise (2021) song aside, the video is chaotic. From people getting beaten up violently to the eerie visual of Kumar's glassy-eyed 'godfather', the number runs on shock and awe.

The rhythm of the tune matches the action on the screen. The use of rap seems like a clever, but familiar, tool to build up the swag and attitude of the hero on screen. The lyrics by Montrose, Bhiwandiwala and Azeem Dayani are simple but effective enough to cater to the demographic. In all, the song makes for a good one-time listen, but may not be addictive.

Bachchhan Paandey will be released in theatres on 18 March.
