The poster of singer and music composer Palaash Muchhhal's directorial debut, Ardh, reveals that Rajpal Yadav will be playing the role of a transgender.
The poster depicts Yadav in a bright orange saree standing on the footboard of a Mumbai local train, bringing to mind the hundreds of transgender individuals who throng railway stations.
It seems that the title, which translates to ‘half’ in English, refers to the derogatory way in which transgender persons are referred to in India.
Ardh, which was announced last July, also marks the Hindi film debut of well-known television actress Rubina Dilaik. She is also known for her stint on the reality show Bigg Boss. Hiten Tejwani, another actor famous for his work on the small screen, will be her co-star.
The film also stars veteran artiste Kulbhushan Kharbanda. He is known for his performance as the evil Bauji in the first two seasons of Amazon Prime Video’s Mirzapur.
Ardh will be released directly on an OTT [over-the-top] platform.
