Apharan (Season 2) teaser: Arunoday Singh’s Rudra Srivastava is back to cause more mayhem

The first season of Apharan featured Arunoday Singh as cop-turned criminal Rudra Srivastava and ended on a cliffhanger. But the ambiguity surrounding his return has been cleared.

The new season has the tagline 'Sabka Katega Dobara'. The 11-episode thriller has been helmed by Santosh Singh.

Besides Arunoday, Apaharan features Nidhi Singh, Snehil Dixit Mehra (also known as BC Aunty on social media) and Saanand Verma. Veteran actor Jeetendra Kapoor will make a special appearance, while Sukhmani Sadana, Ujjawal Chopra, and Aditya Lal are also part of the cast.

This season’s story has been penned by Siddharth Sengupta, Umesh Padalkar and Anahata Menon.

According to the makers, Arunoday’s Rudra returns “for yet another gripping narrative of a kidnapping set against the backdrop of in India and Serbia”.

The masala entertainer, which has Rudra hunting down a foe he can’t recognize, has touches of old Hindi cinema songs, a bit of comic relief, and unexpected twists and turns.

Producer Ekta R Kapoor said, “This show will give the audience the edge-of-the-seat drama they have been looking for! Everything will be double - the threat, drama, action, mystery, passion and even revenge. Close attention has been paid to the nuances of each character. I believe that each script has something different to offer and Aparhan 2 is sure to grab the eyeballs of the audience for all the right reasons - Sabka zaroor katega dobara.”

Speaking about the grey lead character, Arunoday said, “Season one of Apharan was extremely well received and lauded. To get to play Rudra Srivastava has its own set of challenges and demands of the body but it's made me happy to be portraying such a complex character.”

“This is my second outing with Ekta Kapoor (not counting Main Tera Hero) and the team has worked very hard to take the second season to the next level. We owe it to our fans. But that's the best kind of pressure if you ask me, and it only brings the best out in us,” he added.

In collaboration with Ekta R Kapoor and Jio Studios, the second season is expected to be out soon on Voot Select.
