Madhuri Dixit Nene discusses working with Manav Kaul and Sanjay Kapoor in The Fame Game


The veteran actress speaks about her co-stars and their chemistry onscreen in the upcoming Netflix web-series.

Madhuri Dixit Nene took a break from acting after Devdas (2002). After this hiatus, she starred in the dance drama Aaja Nachle (2007), the actress became a judge on the dance reality shows Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa and Dance Deewane, made her Marathi film debut in Bucket List (2018) and produced the Marathi feature 15 August (2019).

She has added another feather to her cap — headlining a web-series. A family drama, The Fame Game (2022) stars Dixit Nene as a fictional film star Anamika Anand, who suddenly vanishes leaving her family and fans to discover her hidden side.

The Netflix series sees the veteran actress reunite with Sanjay Kapoor, who plays her husband, after nearly 21 years, while Manav Kaul plays a co-star with whom she has been having an affair.

Sharing her experience of working with Kapoor again, the actress said, “Well, it's been fantastic. The shoot was so full of nostalgia. I had a fantastic time working with Sanjay because I was working with him after a very long time. A lot of good memories from the old shoot kept coming back. it was wonderful. It was like meeting an old friend.

“And I was working for the first time with Manav,” she added. “He's a very good actor himself and there is so much to learn from him. I think the chemistry between the two of us has worked out very well and it is really amazing to share the screen with these two wonderful actors.”

The cast recently promoted the upcoming series on The Kapil Sharma Show where they were the complete opposites of their fictional counterparts. Created by Sri Rao and directed by Bejoy Nambiar and Karishma Kohli, The Fame Game will be premiered on 25 February.
