Saiyami Kher joins R Balki’s Ghoomer as a cricketer, Abhishek Bachchan to coach her


The shooting of the upcoming film, also starring Shabana Azmi, is currently underway.

Saiyami Kher is reuniting with her Breathe: Into The Shadows (2020) co-star Abhishek Bachchan on R Balki’s Ghoomer.

According to a report in Bombay Times, the entertainment supplement of The Times of India newspaper, the actress is said to be playing a cricketer while Bachchan will essay the part of her coach. Both artistes are sports enthusiasts in real life.

Bachchan, who played the NBA Celebrity All-Star Game in 2015, is a co-owner of the Indian Super League football team Chennaiyin FC and the Pro Kabaddi League team Jaipur Pink Panthers.

Kher, meanwhile, played cricket at the school level for Maharashtra and was selected for the national team but chose to go for the badminton state championships instead. She can often be seen playing cricket on her film sets.

The shooting of the upcoming film, also starring Shabana Azmi, is currently underway. Bachchan began filming for the feature on his birthday earlier this month.

Ghoomer is the latest in a series of films around cricket. The Shahid Kapoor-starrer Jersey (2022) and Shabaash Mithu (2022), with Taapsee Pannu stepping up to play Indian Test cricketer Mithali Raj, are set to be released in the next few months. Meanwhile, Anushka Sharma has been training for the Netflix film Chakda 'Xpress on veteran Indian pace bowler Jhulan Goswami.

Kher is also awaiting the release of the Telugu film Highway with Anand Deverakonda, Tahira Kashyap’s Sharmaji Ki Beti and Ashwiny Iyer Tiwary’s web-series Faadu. She is also expected to reunite with Bachchan in the new season of Breathe: Into The Shadows.
