Samantha on Monday took to Twitter to unveil the first poster of her upcoming pan-Indian project Shakuntalam.

Her tweet read, “Presenting nature’s beloved. The Ethereal and demure. “Shakuntala” from Shaakuntalam (sic).”

The artiste's followers were awestruck by the poster, which depicts the actress as the mythical figure sitting amid wildlife in a forest setting.

One fan replied, “Looking angelic. All the best Sam (sic).”

Another tweeted, “It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s Samantha as angel (sic).”

Tipped to be a big-budget film, the project is being directed by Gunasekhar, who is best known for his epic period drama Rudhramadevi (2015) with Anushka Shetty.

In 2020, speaking at the launch of Shakuntalam, Samantha said that the film, which marks her maiden collaboration with Gunasekhar, was her dream project.

The film will be released in Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada.

Samantha was recently seen in the Telugu film Pushpa, in which she danced to the widely popular song 'Oo Antava Oo Oo Antava'.

Last year, Samantha received acclaim for her performance as a Sri Lankan Tamil rebel in the hit web-series Family Man (Season 2).

She also awaits the release of the Tamil romantic comedy Kaathu Vaakula Rendu Kaadhal. The film, which has been directed by Vignesh Shivn, also stars Vijay Sethupathi and Nayanthara.

It was revealed recently that the actress will make her international film debut in Arrangements of Love, which will be directed by Downton Abbey writer and director Philip John.

As per a report, she will play a bisexual Tamil woman who runs her own detective agency.
