Producer Boney Kapoor, who awaits the release of the Tamil film Valimai, has stated that he is not teaming up with Rajinikanth. He added that he would be the first to announce such a collaboration.
There have been reports that Kapoor was bankrolling Rajinikanth’s next film, which is likely to be directed by Arunraja Kamaraj.
Kapoor joined forces with Arunraja Kamaraj for the upcoming Tamil film Nenjukku Needhi, a remake of the Hindi social drama Article 15 (2019).
Boney Kapoor tweeted on Sunday, “Rajni Garu has been a friend for years. We meet regularly and keep exchanging ideas. Whenever we finalise a film to work together on, I shall be the first person to announce it. You will not have to get such ‘leaked ideas’ (sic).”

Rajinikanth was last seen in the Tamil rural action drama Annaatthe (2021), which was panned by critics. It was recently announced that the star would unite with filmmaker Nelson for his next project, which will be bankrolled by Sun Pictures.
Kapoor forayed into Tamil cinema with Ajith Kumar’s Nerkonda Paarvai (2019), a remake of the Hindi drama Pink (2016).
Valimai, which will hit the screens on 24 February, marks Kapoor and Ajith's second collaboration. The duo has also confirmed that they’ll be reuniting for a third project very soon.
Valimai stars Ajith as a cop. The film also stars Huma Qureshi and Karthikeya. The film will also be released in Hindi, Telugu and Malayalam.
