Veteran actor Ramesh Deo dies of a heart attack at 93

Veteran Marathi and Hindi film actor Ramesh Deo died today in Mumbai of a heart attack. He was 93.

Ramesh Deo had not been keeping well for the past few days. The artiste celebrated his 93rd birthday just a few days ago, on 30 January.

He is survived by his wife, veteran yesteryear star Seema, and their sons actor Ajinkya Deo and filmmaker Abhinay Deo.

Ramesh Deo acted in more than 250 movies in a career spanning seven decades. He made his debut as an actor with the Marathi movie Ram Ram Pahuna way back in 1950 and went on to play both hero and villain in prominent films like Patlachi Por (1951), Yere Majhya Maglya (1955), Andhla Magto Ek Dola (1956), Saata Janmachi Sobti (1959), Avaghachi Sansar (1960) and Vardakshina (1962).

He also made his mark in Hindi cinema through films like Aarti (1962), Anand (1971), Mere Apne (1971), Raampur Ka Lakshman (1972), Aap Ki Kasam (1974), Zameer (1975), Dream Girl (1977) and Patita (1980).

He was last seen on screen in the Marathi movie Jivan Sandhya (2021) just last year.

Ramesh Deo also tried his hand at direction with films like Jeeva Sakha (1992), Chor Chor (1992), Chal Gammat Karu (1994), Senani Sane Guruji (1995) and Gosht Lagna Nantarchi (2010).

He married Seema, one of the leading stars of Marathi cinema in the 1960s and a frequent co-star, in 1963.
