Anubhav Sinha's next project with Ayushmann Khurrana, Anek, will be released in theatres on 13 May.
In October 2021, the makers, Benaras Media Works, announced that the film would arrive in cinema houses on 31 March 2022.
The film is a socio-political thriller and marks the filmmaker's second collaboration with the National award-winning actor.
Benaras Media Works revealed the new release date via a poster early on Wednesday. The poster features a partially hidden Khurrana looking up from behind a gravel mound. The tagline to the film reads, 'It just takes ONE to make a difference? Jeetaga Kaun? Hindustan!"

Khurrana plays a man named Joshua in the film, which is set in the Northeast and was shot in the region. Announced in March 2020, the film reportedly delves deep into a subject that has been left untouched by filmmakers in the country. The filmmaker calls this his 'most ambitious project to date'.
The film was initially scheduled to hit the screens on 17 September 2020, before its release was postponed to March 2020 owing to the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to Sinha, Anek is based on a subject that concerns our country on a 'deep-rooted level'. The film is set in a certain social context and aims to celebrate the diversity of our nation. It was an incredibly difficult film to make. We shot it in locales hard to navigate and in times that were the most difficult. But the film feels like a triumph of our spirit and I am so proud of what we’ve created," he said.
Co-producer Bhushan Kumar described Anek as a celebration of diversity and an important subject that needs to be brought into the limelight. "That’s what made me want to be a part of it. This is a new benchmark Anubhav is setting for the industry by telling such a passionate story," he said.
