Coronavirus update: Aishwaryaa Rajinikanth tests positive for COVID-19, admitted to hospital


The filmmaker on Wednesday took to Instagram to advise her followers to mask up and get vaccinated.

Aishwaryaa Rajinikanth on Wednesday took to Instagram to announce that she has tested positive for the coronavirus despite taking all the necessary precautions. She added that she has gotten herself admitted to the hospital and requested people to mask up, get vaccinated and stay safe.

“Tested positive even after all precautions. Got admitted. Please mask up get vaccinated and be safe. Bring it on 2022! We’ll see what more is that you have in store for me,” the filmmaker wrote.

Filmmaker Gitanjali Selvaraghavan wished Aishwaryaa a speedy recovery. “Get well soon love,” she wrote.

Aishwaryaa made her directorial debut with the Tamil film 3 (2012), starring Dhanush and Shruti Haasan. Her second film was the Tamil heist comedy Vai Raja Vai (2015). In 2017, she directed a documentary on the life of stuntmen in the Tamil film industry titled Cinema Veeran

She recently ended her marriage with actor Dhanush, to whom she was married for 18 years. 

Announcing the news, Dhanush tweeted on 17 January, "18 years of togetherness as friends, couple, as parents and well-wishers to each other. The journey has been of growth, understanding, adjusting and adapting. Today we stand at a place where our paths separate."

Aishwaryaa shared the same statement on Instagram. She wrote: “No caption needed. Only your understanding and love necessary.”
