Ajay-Atul may never outdo themselves after crafting their iconic hit 'Zingaat' from Sairat (2016), but they do have a penchant for catchy dance numbers that hook the audience.
Their latest composition 'Lafda Zala' brings back memories of the chaotic, bustling dance number from Sairat, but with 'Mumbaiya' Hindi words.
The song features vocals by Ajay Gogavale, with lyrics by Amitabh Bhattacharya.
The visuals are again a throwback to the iconic Nagraj Manjule film, with the entire 'Jhund' (bunch) out for a celebration. This leads to the dance floor being packed by participants. A short glimpse of director Manjule displaying his version of the 'naagin' dance adds a touch of hilarity to the proceedings.
The composition is catchy and addictive, to say the least. Ajay-Atul's determination to stick to traditional rhythms makes the song appealing to the demographic. Bhattacharya brings in his own natural flair for the Mumbai lingo which goes hand in hand with the beat. Built around a group of boys singing about living free against all the odds, the song definitely is rebellious and boisterous.
Atul Gogavale's voice takes a bit of getting used to, but the singer-composer has an energy and enthusiasm that proves infectious over time.
Jhund is based on the life of Vijay Barse, the founder of the NGO Slum Soccer. The film is set to release in theatres on 4 March 2022.
