Critics' Choice Awards 2022: Aarya, The Family Man lead nominations

The nominees for the fourth edition of the Critics' Choice Awards were announced on Saturday with Aarya (Season 2), The Family Man (Season 2) and Tabbar leading the list.

The awards have been set up by the Film Critics Guild, in association with the Motion Content Group and Vistas Media Capital.

Familiar contenders such as the Sushmita Sen-led Aarya (Season 2, 2021) and Raj & DK's The Family Man (Season 2, 2021) have been nominated for the Best Web Series award as well as the ensemble drama Mumbai Diaries 26/11 (2021), SonyLIV's Tabbar (2021) and the second season of the TVF family drama Gullak (2021). 

The Best Actor - Web Series nominees are Pavan Malhotra (Tabbar), Jameel Khan (Gullak) and Gajraj Rao (Ray, 2021) join Pankaj Tripathi (Criminal Justice, 2021) and Manoj Bajpayee (The Family Man). 

The Best Actress - Web Series nominees are Bombay Begums (2021) co-stars Amruta Subhash and Shahana Goswami, Sushmita Sen (Aarya), Supriya Pathak (Tabbar) and Samantha (The Family Man). 

Tabbar co-stars Gagan Arora and Paramvir Cheema are competing for the Best Supporting Actor - Web Series award and their fellow nominees are The Family Man's Sharib Hashmi and Uday Mahesh and Amit Sial (Maharani, 2021). 

The Family Man also crowded the category for Best Supporting Actress - Web Series with Devadarshini and Priyamani receiving nominations. Nupur Nagpal (Tabbar), Sunita Rajwar (Gullak) and Konkona Sensharma (Mumbai Diaries 26/11) are also on the list. 

Prashant Nair's work on Tryst With Destiny (2022) has earned him a place in the Best Writing - Web Series category alongside Apurva Asrani (Criminal Justice), Puneet Batra and Saurabh Khanna (Kota Factory, Season 2), Raj & DK, Suparn Varma and Suman Kumar (The Family Man) as well as Harman Wadala and Sandeep Jain (Tabbar). 

Devashish Makhija's Cheepatakadumpa and Cycle led the short film race with nominations for Best Director, Best Writing, Best Cinematography and Best Actress - Short Film. 

The Best Short Film category sees Makhija's Cycle competing with the Oscar-shortlisted Bittu, Antarvasna, Arun Fulara's My Mother's Girlfriend and Shimmy.

Makhija earned nominations in the Best Director category for both Cheepatakadumpa and Cycle alongside Karishma Dev Dube (Bittu), Abhinav Singh (Antarvasna), and Ambiecka Pandit (Under The Waters).

The Best Actor - Short Film nominees are Anthony Arul Prakash (A Father's Gift), Lochan Barsagade (Krishna Chaaya), Uday Chandra (Mintgumri), Raj Arun (Pilibhit) and Pratik Gandhi (Shimmy). 

Ipshita Chakraborty Singh (Cheepatakadumpa) and Bhumisuta Das (Cycle) have been nominated for the Best Actress - Short Film category along with Rani Kumari (Bittu), Shivani Tanksale (Antarvasna) and Sushama Deshpande (My Mother's Girlfriend).

Makhija was also nominated for the Best Writing - Short Film award for Cycle along with Bhumika Dube and Ipshita Chakraborty Singh for Cheepatakadumpa. Abhinav Singh was nominated for Antarvasna alongside Karishma Dev Dube for Bittu and Disha Noyonika Rindani and Jai Mehta for Shimmy. 

Rohin Raveendran Nair (Cheepatakadumpa), Ahan Shetty (Jael's Tale), Tuhin (Opang), Nusrat F Jafri (Pilibhit) and Vivekanand Daakhore, Bhumika Dube, and Jacky Bhavsar (Cycle) were nominated for the Best Cinematography - Short Film award.
