The Punjabi number is from the actor-singer’s album Limited Edition.

The music video of the track ‘Munda Grewala Da’ from Punjabi actor and singer Gippy Grewal’s album Limited Edition, opens with blood-spattered bodies lying everywhere and the singer wearing a menacing look and holding a blood-smeared baseball bat, making it obvious that he is the perpetrator of the violence.

He later goes on to gun down people who bashed him up, exacting his revenge.

Directed by Harry Chahal, the video features actress Diljott as the female lead. The music label for the album is Humble Music.

Grewal shared the link to the video on Instagram today.

Featuring music by Taran Singh and lyrics by Guri Mattu, the song itself is passable and does not bring anything new to the table. The lyrics are about machismo and a declaration of the strength of the Grewal men who break the bones of those who stand against them.

Increasingly, Punjabi music videos have been foregrounding violence and aggression as part of the show of masculine strength. The aggressive look of Grewal was also seen in the action film Warning (2021), in which he stars alongside Prince Kanwaljit Singh and Dheeraj Kumar.
