Rudra trailer 2: Ajay Devgn is calm yet explosive in this psychological crime thriller

Ajay Devgn is no stranger to khaki. The actor played a larger-than-life cop in Rohit Shetty’s Singham (2011) and also a sensible, serious and no-nonsense one in Prakash Jha’s realistic and unconventional drama Gangaajal (2003).

In his first web-series Rudra: The Edge Of Darkness, Devgn has reached a middle ground between the characters from the two aforementioned movies. Rudraveer Singh aka Rudra appears calm but can go wild if the situation compels him to. Going by the trailer, the actor appears to be the right fit for the role. 

The Disney+ Hotstar show is the Hindi adaptation of the British psychological crime drama Luther. It tells the story of assistant commissioner of police (ACP) Rudra who is tasked with unmasking a lethal serial killer on the loose in Mumbai. As he starts working on the case, he keeps getting sucked into the dark world of crime where he encounters various situations and individuals.

The second trailer indicates that the show is a fast-paced crime-cum-psychological thriller with numerous twists and turns. Many of the visuals presented here were also a part of the first trailer but that one didn’t have many dialogues. Rudra’s troubled marriage with his wife [Esha Deol] is also smartly inserted in the visuals. The show also stars Raashii Khanna, Ashwini Kalsekar, Atul Kulkarni, Milind Gunaji and Satyadeep Mishra. 

Directed by Rajesh Mapuskar, Rudra: The Edge Of Darkness will be streamed on Disney+ Hotstar from 4 March.
