17th Mumbai International Film Festival to take place from 29 May to 4 June

The 17th edition of the Mumbai International Film Festival (MIFF) will take place from 29 May to 4 June.

The event, which began in 1990, is organized by the Films Division of India under the aegis of the Union ministry of information & broadcasting. The festival dates were announced by the organization on Twitter:

The festival, which focuses on documentary, short fiction and animation films, was last held on 28 January 2020 in Mumbai, where films from across the world were screened. A number of workshops were also organized on the sidelines of the festival.

The winners are awarded the Golden Conch and Silver Conch as well as award trophies. This year, the total amount of cash that will be awarded to winners across various categories is Rs49 lakh.

The competition categories include Best Documentary, Best Short Fiction, Best Animation film and a range of technical awards. The festival also presents the Pramod Pati Special Jury award, Best Student Film and Best Debut film award, among several others, the winners of which stand to gain a trophy and a cash prize.

The films eligible for this year’s festival will be the ones completed between 1 September 2019 to 31 December 2021. Online entries will begin from 15 February 2022.
