The late Kannada superstar Puneeth Rajkumar who died of a heart attack on 29 October 2021, will be seen in the feature film James as the titular dashing and fearless manager of a security agency.
The one-and-half-minute teaser of the film, which was unveiled today, opens with the quote 'Emotions are bigger than business'. Then we are shown sharply edited montages of cityscapes, business meetings attended by underworld figures and some action sequences.
After almost one minute, Puneeth makes his heroic entrance. He is introduced as someone whose guts and intuition are his trademarks. It seems, he takes it upon himself to terminate the mafia.
The teaser ends with an exchange between the villain and Puneeth, where the former seeks to intimidate him by stating that there is no record of his rivals winning. But Puneeth retorts that breaking records is his habit.
The teaser makes it very obvious that James is going to be an action bonanza. The film has been directed by Chethan Kumar, who has helmed films such as Bahaddur (2014) and Bharaate (2019).
According to the teaser's description on YouTube, "The story revolves around a character named James aka Santhosh Kumar who works as a manager in J-WINGS, a security company. A happy-go-lucky person, he suddenly enters into a dark market, where he meets power brokers and businessmen who were much active in crime syndicate (sic). Overall, it is a commercial entertainer with drama, emotions and patriotism and has lots of high-octane action sequences".
Produced by Kishore Pathikonda, James features Shiva Rajkumar, Raghavendra Rajkumar, Priya Anand, Sarath Kumar, Meka Srikanth, Adithya Menon, Mukesh Rishi and Rangayana Raghu.
