Kajol Devgn has begun shooting for her first film with filmmaker Revathy, who is also an actress. Titled Salaam Venky, the film is being produced by Suuraj Sinngh, Shraddha Agrawal and Varsha Kukreja.

The actor shared a picture of herself with Revathy as they marked the beginning of the shooting schedule.

"Today we begin the journey of a story that needed to be told, a path that had to be taken and a life that had to be celebrated," the actress wrote.

Announced in October 2021, the film was earlier titled The Last Hurrah. It will be Revathy's first film as a director after a gap of 12 years. The actress-filmmaker was last seen in the Malayalam psychological horror film Bhoothakaalam (2022) alongside Shane Nigam.

Inspired by a true story, Salaam Venky will see Kajol and Revathy come together to showcase a tale of a praiseworthy mother, who battled the most difficult circumstances, according to a press release.

Incidentally, during the launch of the film in October, a statement from the director read, "Sujata's journey in The Last Hurrah is close to my heart. It's not only relatable but also inspiring. When Suuraj [Sinngh], Shraddha [Agrawal] and I were discussing this film, Kajol was the first person who came to our mind. Her soft yet energetic eyes and her beautiful smile will make you believe that anything is possible and that is exactly how Sujata is. I am very excited for this collaboration and to be working with Kajol for this ‘heartening story’."
