Akshay Kumar-starrer Prithviraj to finally arrive in theatres on 10 June

Akshay Kumar's highly anticipated historical action drama Prithviraj will finally arrive in theatres on 10 June. 

The actor, who plays the 12th-century ruler Prithviraj Chauhan, shared the new release date as well as new character posters on Instagram.

Prithviraj also stars Miss World 2017 Manushi Chhillar, Sanjay Dutt and Sonu Sood, Chhillar plays the role of his beloved Sanyogita.

Sharing a motion poster of the character, he wrote, “Princess Sanyogita weaved a tale of true love & compassion (sic)."

Sood will be seen as Chand Vardai in the film. Unveiling his character Kumar wrote, "Daring, perceptive and wise, he was Chand Vardai."

Akshay introduced Dutt's character as "Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan's trusted saamant - Kaka Kanha"

The film was earlier scheduled to arrive in theatres on 21 January. However, the makers had to postpone the release due to sudden increase in the COVID-19 cases all over the country.

But this announcement has set the stage for a clash between two highly anticipated films because Govinda Naam Mera, which stars Vicky Kaushal, Bhumi Pednekar and Kiara Advani, will also be released on 10 June.

It will be interesting to see if Karan Johar, who is the producer of Govinda Naam Mera and has a great rapport with Akshay Kumar, will decide to postpone the release of his film.

Directed by Chandraprakash Dwivedi and produced by Yash Raj Films, Prithviraj will also be released in Tamil and Telugu.
