Quite a few projects starring Tahir Raj Bhasin have been released lately such as Ranjish Hi Sahi, Yeh Kaali Kaali Aankhen and the movie Looop Lapeta, the last two of which were premiered on Netflix.
The actor said that he had a good time playing Satya in Looop Lapeta.
Speaking about his character, he said, “Satya is incredibly interesting. He is erratic and has an unpredictable rhythm. Understanding where to variate while playing him meant knowing when he was trying to be romantic or how he responds when he is scared and how he cracks when he’s under pressure. Most of all, Satya is an emotionally vulnerable romantic who leads with his heart. This is what makes him lovable and flawed at the same time.”
The film is a remake of the cult German movie Run Lola Run (1998). It tells the story of Satya’s girlfriend Savi, played by Taapsee Pannu, who races against time to save him from a mess.
Getting into character included losing weight. “Preparing for Satya meant losing five kilos with a low carb diet to get a beach boy body, readings with the director Aakash Bhatia to figure out Satya’s tonality and pitch and of course lots of goofy practice sessions by myself working on his happy dance.”
The actor is happy to star in two Netflix projects in a month. “My second release on Netflix within a month only adds to my happiness! I am so glad to see that Looop Lapeta is trending on #1 in films in India on Netflix and in 10 countries around the world. The love for the film continues to grow and I couldn't be more grateful that my work has been liked by people not just in India but around the world!”
As far as Pannu is concerned, she did the film for its out-of-the-box content. “I was so excited for this film to release as the concept is something that Bollywood hasn't seen before! When I got the script, I knew it would be something so different and I couldn't wait for the audience to see it. To see the film trending in India and internationally and being loved by audiences everywhere is a proud moment indeed. I am very happy for all the love coming our way for the film!”
Looop Lapeta was premiered on Netflix on 4 February.
