The 12th edition of the Bengaluru International Short Film Festival (BISFF) is being held in a hybrid format from 4-14 August. The films being screened online are available to watch, whereas the physical event will take place from 11-14 August.
BISFF is an official qualifying film festival for live-action category by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences (AMPAS).
Aside from the Indian and International competition sections, the festival categories includes Karnataka competition, Animation competition, Let’s Include- An Inclusion section, Womens’ Cinema Collective (WCC) and a non-competition section.
The Indian Competition section includes A Box Of Cuban Cigars by Soumadeep Sen, Cycle by Devashish Makhija, Goshta Arjunchi by Anupam Barve, Kiss by Varun Grover, The Horse From Heaven by Maharshi Kashyap, amongst others.
The Womens’ Cinema Collective, which features films made by women includes Trupti Kulkarni’s Dead End, Karuna Vishwanath’s Kukbi, Jasmine Kaur Roy’s Raavi, Shikha Mahajan’s The Cardamom, and Prarthana Goswami’s The Wait, amongst others.
In addition to the screenings, there will be masterclasses and talks held at the festival. A report by the daily newspaper Deccan Herald said that a talk on Literature in Cinema will be held, along with a masterclass on Blocking for the Camera by Balaji Manohar.
