Veteran Marathi actor Pradeep Patwardhan dies of heart attack

Veteran Marathi film, theatre and television actor Pradeep Patwardhan died today, 9 August, due to a heart attack at his residence in Girgaon, Mumbai. He was 65.
Patwardhan started out in one-act plays during college and later progressed to Marathi plays, making a name for himself in the medium. Of all his plays, Moruchi Mavshi, where he played the character of Bhaiya Patil, is one of his most popular roles. The play went on to have a long run of over a thousand shows.
After attaining name and fame in theatre, it was natural for Patwardhan to veer towards Marathi cinema. He made his film debut with the movie Ek Full Char Half (1991), which also starred Laxmikant Berde, Priya Arun, and Sulabha Deshpande.
Some of his noteworthy films include April Fool (1993), Jamala Ho Jamala (1995), Ratra Aarambh (1998), Navra Mazha Navsacha (2004), Chashme Bahaddar (2006), Mee Shivajiraje Bhosale Boltoy (2009) and the recent comedy Takatak (2019).
While working in films, Patwardhan also simultaneously worked in numerous TV serials like Koparkhali, Nasti Afat, He Man Baware, etc.
His death was mourned by people from the film industry including actress Renuka Shahane and singer Savaniee Ravindrra.
