Duranga trailer: Gulshan Devaiah, Drashti Dhami’s marital bond is laced with crime

Zee5’s upcoming show Duranga (2022) is about a man living a dual life. Generally, such themes fall in the genre of comedy or light entertainment. But this web-series is not just serious, it’s ‘bloody’ serious. 

Duranga is the official Hindi adaptation of the well-known Korean show Flower Of Evil (2020). It revolves around Sammit Patel (Gulshan Devaiah), who is an ideal husband to his wife Ira (Drashti Dhami), an inspector, and a perfect father for their daughter. But he also has a secret life as the serial killer Abhishek Banne. He kills his targets in the most gruesome of manners. 

His case is handed over to Ira, who is determined to nab the culprit, without knowing that it’s her husband. How long will Sammit be able to hide his secret identity? 

This author hasn’t seen the original Korean show. The trailer of Duranga holds promise of it being an interesting and engaging thriller. Stories of serial killers have been done to death on the web. But the fact that the killer here is the husband of the investigator makes it stand apart from the rest. 

Devaiah has always been a quality performer and this is visible from the trailer. Dhami’s last outing on the web as Khanzada Begum in The Empire (2021) earned her accolades. She appears in good form here too. The rest of the actors get blink-and-miss appearances. 

Directed by Pradeep Sarkar and Aijaz Khan and created by Goldie Behl, Duranga will stream on Zee5 from 19 August.
