Dahan trailer: Tisca Chopra encounters myth and the force of the supernatural

Disney+ Hotstar’s supernatural thriller series Dahan – Raakan ka Rahasya (2022) starring Tisca Chopra and Saurabh Shukla delves into the world of myth, superstition and horror. 

The trailer takes us to Shilaspura, a place which carries an ancient curse. The depths of a mysterious cave and a gruesome blood-drenched room set the stage for the unfolding of the story.

With this background, the district magistrate Avni (Tisca Chopra) comes to the place and realises that Shilaspura has a rare mineral. As she spearheads the initiation of a mining operation to extract this mineral, she faces all kinds of obstacles.

Although Avni seems undeterred by the warnings, Saurabh Shukla plays a character who warns her off from meddling with the natural order and things start to go horribly awry. In glimpses of macabre scenes in the trailer, Avni finds the floor drenched in blood, people seem to be possessed, and animals die en masse.

The production quality, as well as the production design are impressive as the series seems to create a believably chilling place as the setting for the horror to unfold, while channelling myth and superstition that remains prevalent in many parts of the country.

Vikranth Pawar has previously directed short films and this will be his first time directing a series.

The nine-episode series has been shot in Rajasthan and also stars Rajesh Tailang, Mukesh Tiwari, Ankur Nayyar, and Rohan Joshi. The series is due to be streamed on Disney+ Hotstar from 16 September.
