Former actor and self-proclaimed film critic Kamaal Rashid Khan, popularly known as KRK, was arrested today in Mumbai for his controversial tweets regarding the death of actors Irrfan Khan and Rishi Kapoor in April 2020.

As per a latest update, he has been sent to a 14-day judicial custody by the Borivali court.

Khan was arrested as soon as he landed at the Mumbai airport today from Dubai. The arrest happened after a complaint was filed by Shiv Sena’s Yuva Sena leader Rrahul Kanal on 30 April 2020; the day Kapoor died.

Kanal thanked the Mumbai police while speaking to the digital newspaper Mid-Day. “I thank Mumbai Police for taking action against Kamaal Khan,” he said. “It has also set an example that one cannot get away with wrongdoing. Kamal had been targeting several celebrities on social media platforms. The celebrities included senior actors as well as newcomers. The language in his tweets was offensive for senior actors too. His tweets had come to my notice after which I had complained to the police and today he has been arrested.”

Khan is known for his slanderous tweets against prominent and non-prominent people from the Hindi film industry. He is also infamous for making personal remarks in his movie reviews.
