Amazon miniTV’s upcoming short film Dhavak (2022) has an unusually funny subject. It tells the story of a bronze medallist runner Sudha Singh, played by Srishti Shrivastava, who puts out a declaration that she will marry the man who defeats her in a race. Produced and directed by Abhishek Sharma, the film also stars Vaibhav Talwar.
“With Dhavak we wanted everyone to experience a commercial film which is honest and yet empowers people to dream,” Sharma said in a statement. “Dhavak’s story will not just entertain our audience with all the quirks of a mainstream film but leave people enquiring about their own deep-seated conditionings. Through Dhavak we aim to inspire millions of girls across the nation to also identify and unapologetically race through their hurdles, both literally and metaphorically.”
Shrivastava has starred in notable projects like OK Jaanu (2017), Gully Boy (2019), Gulabo Sitabo (2020) and the web-series Girls Hostel (2019).
“I’m so honoured and glad to be a part of Dhavak,” the actress shared. “Sports films have always been very inspiring to me. They strive to make us aware about the current scenario and always leave us with a beautiful thought about the world we live in. I strongly believe that Dhavak will inspire women across the country, while driving home the point that dreams are achievable when you put your heart and soul into them.”
Dhavak will stream on Amazon miniTV on Amazon shopping app from 30 August for free.
