There was a time in Marathi cinema when chaotic comedies with a large number of characters used to be made regularly. Filmmaker Sameer Patil’s BhauBali (2022) happens to be from the same genre.

The trailer shows that the story takes place in a locality named Soparwadi where people of different class reside. The rich live in affluent homes. The middle-class are placed in a housing society while Jijabai Nagar is fllled with illegal slums.

While the trailer doesn’t give away much about the story. It contains random visuals of different scenes from the film that indicate that the people from Soparwadi are always eager to have a fight with anyone who offends them. Then there is the media which helps in escalating a matter. An officer from the nearby police station instigates people even further, instead of controlling matters.

Kishor Kadam and Manoj Joshi get maximum footage in the trailer. The former plays a slum-dweller while the latter is a wealthy businessman and they both appear apt as their respective characters. Hrishikesh Joshi excels as an unusual cop.

The late Jayant Pawar has contributed the story, screenplay and dialogues.

Presented by Zee Studios and produced by Nitin Vaidya, Ninad Vaidya and Aparna Padgaonkar, BhauBali is to be released in theatres on 16 September.
