Vishal Sakharam Devrukhkar’s Boyz (2017) and Boyz 2 (2018) showed the coming-of-age journey of three mischievous boys, played by Parth Bhalerao, Pratik Lad and Sumant Shinde. While the first film featured them in school, they played junior college students in the 2018 film.
The third film in the franchise, Boyz 3 (2022), also takes their story forward. But this time, there is a twist in the form of a female character, played by Vidula Chougule.
The story commences when the three friends (Bhalerao, Lad and Shinde) set out for a road trip to coastal Karnataka. While on their way, they come across a young woman (Chougule) on the run. She offers to sponsor their trip if they allow her to join in. They happily agree. The four youngsters then go through a series of planned and unplanned incidents.
The presence of Chougule adds life to the trailer which is otherwise quite unfunny despite the dialogues trying too hard. The first-time actress succeeds in showing spirit and confidence in her debut film. She is known for her act in the Marathi television serial Jeev Zala Yeda Pisa.
The three young men seem to be in adequate form, like the previous two films. The film also stars Girish Kulkarni in a pivotal role.
Produced by Lalasaheb Shinde, Rajendra Shinde and Sanjay Chhabria, Boyz 3 is due to be released in theatres on 16 September.
