Maharani (Season 2) will be more intense than the first one, says composer Rohit Sharma

The SonyLIV political drama, starring Huma Qureshi, returns on 26 August.

The keenly awaited second season of SonyLIV’s period political drama Maharani marks the return of Rani Bharti, played by Huma Qureshi, who stepped as interim chief minister after her husband Bheema Bharti (Sohum Shah) was gravely injured and shot. This time around, Rani is not the meek stand-in but is going to fight for her place in politics.

The web-series, written by Umashankar Singh and Nandan Singh, has been directed by Ravindra Gautam. The series was created and produced by filmmaker Subhash Kapoor.

The songs for the series have been recorded and produced by Rohit Sharma, who has previously worked on films like Ship Of Theseus (2013) and The Kashmir Files (2022).

Speaking about his work experience, the composer shared, “Maharani has been one of my best projects so far. I believe I have completely captured it based on the cast and crew's reactions. The entire cast, including Subhash Ji, and Huma, really loved the work.”

“I truly hope that the public will adore this series because I feel that it is one of those series that will keep you on the edge of your seat,” he added. “The trailer is really well appreciated, and people are eager to watch it. This series consists of a total of seven songs, and I hope the audience enjoys them. The best part of this season is that it is way more intense than season one, so just stay tuned.”

Rohit Sharma is also hard at work on three film projects, one of them featuring Sairat (2016) star Rinku Rajguru, which is written and directed by Ram Mahindra, a young filmmaker from Chennai.
