Sun Pictures has announced their next Tamil film with Rajinikanth titled Jailer (2023). Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, the movie went on floors in Chennai from today, 22 August. This happens to be the veteran actor’s 169th film.

The makers have released the first poster of the film. It sees Rajinikanth dressed up in a white shirt and trousers, paired with spectacles. His determined expression on his bearded face is unmissable.

The film poster also announces that music composer Anirudh Ravichander has also come on board the project. A day before the announcement, which was yesterday, Anirudh had given more than a hint about the announcement of the film. He shared a shadow image of Rajinikanth on his official Twitter page with today’s date and captioned it, “Jailer varaaru”, which translates to, “Jailer is coming.”

Ramya Krishnan has been announced as Rajinikanth's co-star in the film. The names of the rest of the actors have been kept under wraps. There are reports about Aishwarya Rai Bachchan being cast opposite Rajikikanth but there hasn’t been an official announcement of the same.

Rajinikanth’s last release was Annaatthe (2021) which was directed by Siva and it also starred Keethy Suresh, Meena Durairaj and Nayanthara.
