Anurag Kashyap’s Dobaaraa (2022) opened at only Rs70 lakh nett on Friday, 19 August. However, the film has been released in only 370 cinemas across India. With the positive reviews and word-of-mouth coming in, it seemed the film had a chance of taking a good jump in the next two days.
Unfortunately, that hasn’t happened as Dobaaraa, which stars Taapsee Pannu, collected only Rs90 lakh nett on Saturday, 20 August, and Sunday, 21 August, each, as per figures shared by the trade website BoxOfficeIndia.com.
As per our trade sources, Dobaaraa is made at a modest budget around Rs20-25 crore. The film has so far made a total of just Rs2.50 crore nett. Hence, its hopes of acquiring any sort of a standing at the box office are dim right now.
The Hindi version of writer-director Chandoo Mondeti’s Telugu movie Karthikeya 2 (2022) had a jump in its second weekend. The Nikhil Siddhartha-starrer made Rs4.75 crore nett in its first week, which consisted of only six days. The film almost doubled its number in the first three days of the second week by amassing Rs8 crore nett.
As per BoxOfficeIndia.com, Karthikeya 2 has profited the most in the states of Maharashtra and Gujarat.
Meanwhile, Laal Singh Chaddha (2022) and Raksha Bandhan (2022) managed only Rs4.65 crore nett and Rs4 crore nett in their second weekend respectively, taking their overall total to only Rs55 crore nett and Rs41.60 crore nett.
