The Taapsee Pannu-starrer, directed by Anurag Kashyap, has fared better the actress’s previous release, the biopic Shabaash Mithu (2022) which had collected around 40 lakhs nett on opening day.
Meanwhile, Laal Singh Chaddha earned around Rs1.25 crore nett on its second Friday, taking its overall collections to Rs51 crore nett, according to the figures reported by trade website, BoxOfficeIndia.com.
The second Friday earnings aren’t a drop down from Thursday but the low numbers are not promising. The Advait Chandan film, starring Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan, could reach Rs60 crore nett in its second week, but that is nowhere near even the halfway mark of its budget of Rs180 crore.
Raksha Bandhan (2022), which released alongside Laal Singh Chaddha, earned Rs1 crore nett on its second Friday, according to BoxOfficeIndia.com. The Akshay Kumar-starrer is following a similar trajectory to Laal Singh Chaddha and has now earned Rs38.6 crore nett so far.
The Aanand L Rai film was made on a budget of Rs70 crore and has been the third release in a row for star Akshay Kumar, after Bachchhan Paandey (2022) and Samrat Prithviraj (2021), to have flopped at the box office.
The Hindi-dubbed film Karthikeya 2 (2022) has been gaining momentum on its second Friday earning around Rs1.50-1.75 crore nett, according to BoxOfficeIndia.com. Due to word of mouth, the film starring Nikhil Siddhartha has continued to grow.
