Box office: Ek Villain Returns sees a drop on Monday

Meanwhile, the Hindi version of the Kiccha Sudeep-starrer Vikrant Rona has fallen flat completely.

Ek Villain Returns had a good opening, collecting Rs22 crore nett over the weekend. But unfortunately, it saw a drop on Monday. The thriller, however, did ease the pressure on the industry to some extent since it fared well on Friday.

Ek Villain Returns review: Bizarre plot, lacklustre performances weigh down this sequel

The film made Rs2.75 crore on Monday, according to trade website BoxOfficeIndia.com, which was less than half of Sunday's figure. The word of mouth surrounding Ek Villain Returns has not been exceptional, hence it’s going to be a struggle for the film to maintain its hold during the rest of the week.

However, it’s still doing well in some pockets and is expected to make a total of about Rs30-31 crore by the end of week one. The fact that there’s no major release this Friday will work in its favour as well.

The film is doing much better in mass centres than in multiplexes.

Meanwhile, the Hindi dubbed version of Vikrant Rona registered an opening collection of Rs1.15 crore nett but has seen no growth at all. The Kannada version, however, has done well and its total stands at Rs44 crore nett.
