Akshay Kumar will be seen in an all-new avatar in Raksha Bandhan. The upcoming film sees him play a character who attempts to marry off his four younger sisters, refusing to tie the knot with his long-time girlfriend (Bhumi Pednekar) until he completes his task.

The actor said he has never done something like this project before. “I’ve essayed many roles in my career. Strangely, I haven’t worked in a film that focuses on this special brother-sister bond, something which is so relatable and universal. Actually, I don’t think we have many such films in our industry. So in that sense, I got to try something new.”

Akshay added that every middle-class family would perhaps relate to this film and his character. “I had a lot of fun playing my role in Raksha Bandhan. It is a character that belongs to a middle-class family trying to make ends meet and having the responsibility of getting his four sisters married,” he added.

The film, which has been written by Himanshu Sharma and Kanika Dhillon, is set to be released on 11 August, just in time for Raksha Bandhan celebrations.
