The Aamir Khan-starrer has managed to crawl towards the Rs50 crore mark in eight days.

The Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan-starrer Laal Singh Chaddha (2022) has somehow inched its way to a collection of Rs50.35 crore nett at the ticket counter, despite having an extended first week at its disposal, as per figures shared by the trade website BoxOfficeIndia.com.

Directed by Advait Chandan, the film made as low as Rs1.35 crore nett yesterday, 18 August, on the last day of its extended week.

Laal Singh Chaddha is the official Hindi remake of the classic Hollywood movie Forrest Gump (1994), which starred Tom Hanks in the lead role.

The Akshay Kumar-starrer Raksha Bandhan (2022) has fared even lower as it finished its extended first week at only Rs37.60 crore nett. Directed by Aanand L Rai, the film also stars Sadia Khateeb and Bhumi Pednekar.

But when it comes to the losses incurred, Raksha Bandhan has fared better than Laal Singh Chaddha because of its lower budget. As per our trade sources, Aamir’s movie is made at a budget around Rs180 crore, while Raksha Bandhan’s cost of production is around Rs70 crore.

The sci-fi thriller Dobaaraa (2021), directed by Anurag Kashyap, releases in theatres today. But the Taapsee Pannu-starrer is not expected to affect the fate of the two films at the box office.
