The Punjabi-language feature Moh (2022) is a passionate romance drama that seems to be along the lines of writer-director Jagdeep Sidhu’s earlier films Qismat (2018), Sufna (2020), Qismat 2 (2021), amongst others.
The trailer features Gitaj Bindrakhiya who seems to come back to his home town after a gap of a few years and realises that his beloved, played by Sargun Mehta, seems to have moved on. We see glimpses of Bindrakhiya getting married. However, that is interspersed with his relationship with Mehta, likely playing the role of a dancer, who is also a lover of Urdu poetry.
However, as a woman of the world, Mehta tells Bindrakhiya that she will not be impressed by his poetry alone. He then goes into a tizzy, finding relief in alcohol and even contemplating suicide. The end of the trailer includes scenes of violence, indicating that the film will be an intense love story of heartbreak and passion.
The film is set in a village or small town and the trailer makes it evident that it spans a certain length of time, when both protagonists are older.
The music will certainly be a highlight of the film, with lyrics by Jaani and music by B Praak. The duo are famous for their passionate, Sufi-influenced love ballads.
Moh is due to be released on 16 September. Check out the trailer below and let us know if you are keen on watching the film.
