BISFF 2022: Maharshi Kashyap’s The Horse From Heaven wins the top award

The 12th edition of the Bengaluru International Short Film Festival (BISFF) was held from 4-14 August in a hybrid format. The festival concluded with an award ceremony and shared the announcement of the winners on Twitter.
International Competition Section.

Maharshi Kashyap’s The Horse From Heaven won the top prize in the Indian Competition section, while Varun Grover’s Kiss was the first runner-up, along with Kopfkino by Veena Leela Bharati. The Silent Echo by Suman Sen was the second runner-up in the category.
The International Competition section winner was Adopt A Dog by Juan Mauel Barreda. Ali Sohail Jaura’s Murder Tongue won the First Runner-Up award followed by An Encounter by Kelly Campbell which was awarded the Second Runner-Up award.

The winners in the animation section were Death And The Winemaker by Victor Jaquier, followed by Kandittund! (Seen It) by Adithi Krishnadas, which won the award for First Runner-up along with The Cave by Jinman Kim and Jiyoung Chon. Run Totti Run by Shad Lee Bradbury won the award for Second Runner-Up in the category.
In the Karnataka Competition section, Alegalu Helida Kathe by Raghu Raghava won the top prize, followed by Nammane by Sampath Kannanth, the Second Runner-up prize winners were Last Order by Prashanth Gowda and Enso by Megha J Shetty. In addition, Alegalu Helida Kathe also won a Special Mention for editing, while Liberated (Muktha) by Medini Kelamane won a Special Mention for Casting.
An Irish Goodbye by Tom Berkeley and Ross White was the winner in the Let’s Include section followed by the First and Second Runners-up, films Father Tongue by Ivgeny Gashinsky and Sunshine by Martha Goddard respectively.
In the Women’s Cinema Collective section, Tanvi Jadwani’s My Heart Is An Ocean won the top award, followed by Manya Gadhok’s Soulmates which was the first Runner-up. Jasmine Kaur Roy’s Raavi won the second Runner-up award in the section and Anusha Rao’s Swarna received a Special Mention.
BISFF is an official qualifying film festival for live-action category by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences (AMPAS).
